When the FLG team think of someone tenacious, creative, and endlessly supportive, they immediately think of Wesley. He may have only joined them this year, but his reputation preceded him. Having already worked in other areas of ClearCourse, he was the obvious choice when the chance to step into account management came up – so much so that a former colleague (now part of FLG) didn’t hesitate to recommend him.
And it shows. In a team where everyone genuinely enjoys working together, Wesley has slotted in seamlessly – bringing energy, ideas, and a talent for brightening everyone’s day. He’s proof that when you mix talent with camaraderie, you get more than colleagues… you get a team that loves what they do.
We caught up with Wesley to learn more about his journey – from his background and what drives him at work, to the things he loves doing outside the office. True to form, he was open, engaging, and full of the energy that makes him such a valued part of the team.
So, where does the creative style come from
“After college I jumped into marketing for an eCommerce business, building campaigns in a fiercely competitive marketplace. Because our products weren’t the cheapest, we had to get inventive about how to attract customers, and that’s where my creative streak really came alive.
But after a while, I started questioning whether I was on the right path. I found myself leaning more towards sales, and with my IT background from college, the chance to work with a SaaS product felt exciting and natural. It was the perfect blend of creativity, problem‑solving, and technology.”
How did this journey evolve after you made this decision?
“I realised the best way to sell something is to truly understand what it can do – and how it fits into different scenarios. So, I started out in a support role, where I gained invaluable knowledge in an IT environment, working directly with customers, fixing problems, and helping them unlock more value from the system.
That experience gave me the confidence and insight I needed. It became clear that account management was the perfect fit – a role where I could apply my skills, build relationships, and keep growing.”
So now that you’re in account management, how are you settling into the role – and where do you see it taking you?
“I’m really enjoying it and feel like I’ve come into my own. It’s the best of both worlds – I get to interact with customers and collaborate with my team every day.
With customers, I love suggesting ways to streamline their processes, helping them generate more leads, and showing them functionality they didn’t even know existed. Where I can add value, I do – especially since many of the customers I work with have been with FLG for a while, and sometimes knowledge isn’t always passed on when people move on.
With my team, it’s constant collaboration: brainstorming how the system can be used more effectively, coming up with creative campaigns, and finding solutions to challenges. It’s a role I genuinely love, and I’m excited about the opportunities to grow even further.
And the best part? My passion for the role doesn’t just drive me, it makes each day feel like we’re building something exciting together.
And finally, what do you enjoy most outside of work?
“I’m a big fan of football and love spending quality time with friends – whether that’s in the gym or over a couple of drinks. Recently I’ve taken up Paddle, which has been great fun (especially since I’d never played racket sports before!). There’s even an app that lets you book courts around the country and pairs you up with someone if you don’t have a partner – a brilliant way to meet new people.
I’m also a bit of a solo traveller. I’ve explored plenty of European cities, with Lisbon being my favourite, I just love everything about it. My trip to Australia was unforgettable too, driving up the east coast and even fitting in some sea fishing along the way. Next on the list? Scandinavia, with Iceland right at the top. I can’t wait for that adventure.”
